Tomorrow is the D-Day: who are the favourite teams?

Tomorrow is D-day. Who are the favourite teams?
On the day after the first day of races and having a look at the standings we’ll try to predict the favourite nations for the team title. On Friday the category 1 athletes will race in special slalom and category 2 in giant slalom. Only at the end of these two events we’ll know who will be the World Champion School.

Giorgio Vanzetta, an Olympic Champion in Folgaria

An Olympic Champion among the students of Folgaria at the World School’s Championship. Olympic Gold in relay, in Lillehammer 1994, Giorgio Vanzetta was at work as gate referee in the Giant Slalom on the Salizzona slope in Fondo Grande.

Good results for italian boys and girls in cross country

This morning was encouraging for Italian athletes who enjoyed good results, some of them could reach the podium, others were just behind. Martina Piller Roner, instead, ranked only 19th in the first run (Category 1 girls) ahead of Luigina and Eleonora Fauner, respectively daughter and niece of the Olympic champion Silvio Fauner.

Nel gigante bene le ragazze italiane, emozioni per i paralimpici

Si è appena conclusa la prova di slalom gigante svoltasi sulla pista Salizzona a Fondo Grande. Sono stati impegnati nella competizione sia i maschi che le femmine della categoria 1 (anni '97, '96 e '95). La temperatura di circa -2 gradi e il cielo coperto hanno contribuito a mantenere buone le condizioni della neve che non si è rovinata durante lo svolgimento della gara.

Pittin, bronze in Vancouver, arrived in Folgaria

 Alessandro Pittin arrived in Folgaria. The athlete from Friuli, wearing the bronze medal clinched in Vancouver’s Olympic Games Nordic combined event, will be the torch bearer during the opening ceremony of the World Schools’ Championship taking place in the Ice Rink of Folgaria.

Beware the Bek!!!

Along the streets of Folgaria you can meet the Bek.
According to the project, the students are the protagonists of the event, so the mascot will be interpreted by two students of Folgaria. Tommaso Stedile, student of ITCG Fontana of Rovereto, and Lorenzo lattanzi, student of ITI Marconi of Rovereto, will welcome the athletes in a very funny way.

The delegations are coming, Iran too

Folgaria is crowded with students from all over the world for the arrival of the delegations that will take part in the Ski World Schools’ Championship. The English athletes arrived first at the accreditation desk, followed by Iranian and German delegations. The enthusiasm of the students guarantees the best atmosphere for this 20th Ski World Schools’ Championship.

Club dei Mondiali: commercial activities with the Ski World Schools' Championship

The ‘Club dei mondiali’ (World Championship Club) initiative is addressed to all commercial activities in Folgaria and is aimed at creating the atmosphere of a World Students’ Championship. The activities that joined the project will be allowed to hand out freebies and souvenirs of the event, sell t-shirts, give out the magazine in exchange for a small discount (on the goods or accommodation) widely compensated by the great feedback in terms of publicity that the Organizing Committee has ensured through the web site and the magazine.

Students' Staff: it's time to work

Welcome guys! Everybody is waiting for the delegations' arrival in Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna upland in order to complete the accreditation. Yesterday was the great students' staff day. More than 300 students from Trentino schools arrived in the afternoon at the Folgaria's Palasport, the headquarter of the 20th Ski World Schools' Championship, that from tomorrow to Saturday morning will enliven the Cimbri highland.

The World Schools’ Championship ISF 2010 in Trentino is ready to kick off

Italy 2010, the World Schools Ski Championship is ready to kick off on the uplands of Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna from today to Saturday, venue of the twentieth Championship which is held every two years and features the best students in the world.
The  International School Sport Federation has entrusted this event to Italy for the fourth time:
Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1977 and 1983 and Tarvisio in 1995. Runners in Alpine and Nordic skiing events scheduled between Wednesday and Friday will be students of two categories, the first from the middle school and the second from the first two years of high school.
The mountain resort is ready to welcome the 20 delegations who are arriving in Trentino today together with a group from Abruzzo, invited by the Organizing Committee and the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento Lorenzo Dellai after the tragic earthquake that struck this central-Italian region in April 2009.
